IKFF (International Kids Film Festival): Kids don’t go to film festivals, so let’s take the festival to the kids!
IKFF for you is a first-of-its-kind global film festival held in schools worldwide since 2017. It introduces students to the magic of films to inspire and educate. Students WATCH the best of International Children’s Films, LEARN from film-making master classes and MAKE films to participate in the world’s largest student film-making competition. IKFF exposes children to different languages, cultures, emotions, challenges etc., through films as a visual medium. Children are usually exposed to inferior content, while the best films made for children are found exclusively in film festivals. Very few children get an opportunity to visit film festivals across the globe. This thought gave birth to IKFF in 2017.
Here is what Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur had to say about their experience hosting the FESTIVAL
The festival was hosted at our school for all students, and we also invited the schools in the neighbourhood. It was organized on a large scale, giving it a theatre-like experience. The festival was inaugurated by student alumni currently well-known in the field of theatre. Children thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, especially the combination of imaginative speculation and the technical filmmaking experience created on that day.
One of the favourite movies voted by our teachers and students was “The End, The Beginning”, which expressed the real-life experiences of a young girl environmentalist. This movie enhances thinking skills in children. It also showed the importance of being involved in social issues around us.
